NZDating Photo Tips

We all know it's a competitive world in the online dating arena, and just like everything else in life, putting a little effort in up-front with your photos can be rewarding on an ongoing basis.

Online dating profiles are much more compelling with great photos - and members searching such a big community as NZDating.com are attracted to photos that stand out amongst the bunch, you'll draw them into reading your complete advert.
  • A lot of members actually only search for adverts with photos
  • Profiles with a photo get opened many times more than those without
  • Emails with photos get read first
Your photos can have a much bigger impact on your NZDating profile than just showing people what you look like. Photos can display your hobbies, passions, work, sports, and so on and photos can be used to show your personality or sense of humor. If used properly, a good set of photos will reveal a broad set of your personality traits, interests and values to your reader.

Review your photos

Here are some quick tips you can apply to your profile photos for immediate results:

Use a quality camera
Cell phones and web cams often produce bad quality pictures. While self-taken pictures actually produce positive results with online daters, grainy pictures with camera noise in general make you look bad, with discolored or unhealthy looking complexion. If you're going to take photos of yourself, try to use a digital camera if you don't have a phone with a decent camera.

Be aware of the background
People tend to judge everything in your photo, not just you - so if the room is a mess in the background behind you, people will naturally think you're a messy person. If your photo is in a bar or party with loads of empty bottles visible, they will assume you party constantly. Think about what you'd like to see you and your ideal partner doing, and use photos of yourself doing those things.

Lighter is better!
Believe it or not, lighting can make a big difference in how people interpret your character. If you post a photo of yourself taken in a dark room without using a flash, you'll come across as a low energy/boring person who lives in the dark. Conversly, if your photo is well lit and bright, you'll come across as high energy/attractive (eg. FUN!) person

Who else is in your photos?
If there has to be other people in your photo, who they are reflects on you. For guys, photos of you with your arm around your ex-girlfriend may not be ideal... Girls, perhaps reconsider the photo of you surrounded by the local rugby team.

Post a lot of photos
Members who let their photos be seen by all get the best responses, and the more photos, the higher the response rate, so post as many photos as you are allowed. Since Gold members can post many more photos, this may be a good investment to attract your ideal mate. Male & Female members also have a huge increase in people looking at their profiles after purchasing gold membership. In combination with lots of great photos, Gold Membership is the best way to meet a lot of new people for as low as $15.
